ABI 7300 and 7500fast Real-Time PCR
The Applied Biosystems 7300 and 7500fast Real-Time PCR Systems are optimized for use with the following standard dye sets: FAM/SYBR® Green I, VIC®/JOE, NED, TAMRA, and ROX. The 7500fast system can also visualize Cy3, Cy5, and Texas Red and cycle in as little as 30 minutes.
The 7500 requires special plates, contact LSCF for info.
Applications include gene expression analysis, absolute quantification, SNP genotyping, and +/–assays utilizing internal positive controls.
Advantages of real-time PCR include:
- Ability to monitor the progress of the PCR reaction as it occurs in real time
- Ability to precisely measure the amount of amplification at each cycle, which allows highly accurate quantification of the amount of starting materials in samples
- An increased dynamic range of detection
- Amplification and detection occurs in a single tube, eliminating post-PCR manipulations
